Petition To make ForumWarz Open SourceAs a hardcore Lunix user, I gotta say that what you’re suggesting isn’t open source at all, and really would just serve to fuck things up for CZ and run them out of business. Obviously open source or partially open source models can work for some games, like NetHack or Valve’s stuff. But for a browser-based MMO like this, it would be disastrous. If someone took the source and made their own Forumwarz server where everyone gets unlimited free BP, would people continue to donate to CZ?
Also, sorry to be that guy, but I can’t help pointing out security by obscurity vs. security by design regarding all the security stuff mentioned. Then again, this isn’t exactly a project that’ll attract a lot of white hats, and as stated opening the source would do more harm than good. Saiyantology and Paranoid Panorama need to be put in one list or the other.I know it’s been brought up time and time again, but still nothing’s been done about it. And sure enough, Alzheimer’s finally happened to me.
I’m going through and pwning everything in order, that way I know I’m not pwning something twice, and when I’m halfway through the list of community forums I start pwning Paranoid Panorama. I remembered to skip over Saiyantology, but by the time it occurs to me that I already beat PP thanks to it being listed twice, I had already made my first move and thus it was too late.
Seriously, it’s just unfair that a design flaw like that can cause people to lose a 50-odd forum streak. (view post) |
