A note from Rache's mother (I think you knew her as Ebony)King Krimson Posted:
Mr. Krimson,
Thank-you for agreeing to meet with me. I bumure you that all “police activity” in and around my home has run its course, and it is perfectly safe for you to visit me. I look forward to speaking with you.
I should let you know that the laboratory to which I sent the hatpins has sent back some rather puzzling results. As your story would indicate, the one you sent to me exhibited traces of blood that did not belong to Rachel (yours, I presume) but did bear Rachel’s fingerprints. The other showed traces of Rachel’s blood and several sets of fingerprints, including Rachel’s. But it also showed traces of something else, more puzzling, and that is what I would like to talk to you about.
Mr. Krimson, have you recently had any contact with live scorpions? Or are you aware of Rachel or any of her friends from this community having any such contact? I know that these questions must sound bizarre. I will explain everything to you when you visit.
Sincerely,
Karla Robertson (view post) |

A note from Rache's mother (I think you knew her as Ebony)Dear Mr. Krimson,
My apologies for the delayed response. The past week has been very trying for me. My husband recently returned from Kuwait, and I had to break the news of Rachel’s death to him. He was devastated; she had always been “daddy’s little girl.” Then there was the funeral to arrange… don’t get me started on what a nightmare that was. You know, British Airways wanted $20,000 to take her body back to England (“repatriation” they call it; isn’t that odd?). $20,000! That’s, of course, in addition to the funeral costs… well, we decided to have her cremated here, but we had a headstone placed in the family plot back home. Isn’t it beautiful?

Gosh… I’m rambling! I’m so sorry… it’s just, well, my husband is back in Kuwait now, and I have no one to talk to here.
Anyways, now that the funeral is done and out of the way, we’re back to the problem of who killed my lovely daughter. Yes, I did receive the hatpin you sent me, but I’m a little bit confused. It seems there were two hatpins involved at the scene. This one, which I found at the scene, and which Rachel had just purchased a few days beforehand:

And this one, which you sent me. It’s odd, though; I’d never seen it before. Are you absolutely certain that Rachel had it with her when you arrived?

I have sent both of the pins to a private investigator who is working on the case. We have decided to limit the police involvement — they hastily concluded it was suicide on account of her gothic mannerisms and recent breakup, and we did not feel the need to tell them otherwise. The police here in the Emirates can be… tricky to deal with, if you know what I mean.
As soon as I have the forensics results, I will pbum them on to you. But I urge you again, please come to my home so we can discuss this face-to-face. If you are in fact innocent of this horrendous crime, I need to know every detail of what happened.
Sincerely, Karla Robertson

A note from Rache's mother (I think you knew her as Ebony)Dear Forumwarz Community,
Please forgive me for another intrusion, but I must beg you all, once again, to be forthcoming with any information you might have about Rachel’s last minutes.
First of all, to the young man known here as “Isaac,” please let me know whether you can confirm or refute this alibi that was provided for one Mr. Weasley.
If that alibi cannot be confirmed, I will need bumurance that this Mr. Weasley the MR. Krimson with whom she sparred over literary matters — and who showed up at our house shortly before Rachel’s death to, in his words, “confront her” — are, in fact, the same person.
Here are their pictures.
This one of Mr. Weasley was taken from Rachel’s diary: Log in to see images! I apologize for the lipstick and nail polish on the photograph. Rachel always did have a flair for the dramatic.
This one of Mr. Krimson was found in a collection of photographs Rachel used for her collage art. Log in to see images!
As you can see, both of these young gentlemen wear a lot of facepaint, making it hard to determine whether they are, in fact, the same individual.
Meanwhile, Mr. Krimson, I am still awaiting your visit. If you are innocent, as you claim, you have nothing to fear by meeting with me, returning Rachel’s hatpin, and telling me everything you know about her final minutes on earth.
Please, young people; this is serious business. I anxiously await your responses.
Sincerely,
Karla Robertson

A note from Rache's mother (I think you knew her as Ebony)King Krimson Posted:
Dear Mr. Krimson,
Let me start by saying that I appreciate your honesty — if, in face, you are being honest with me.
Yes, there was some blood at the scene, although hardly what one would describe as “copious quantities.”
Rachel has — had — an extensive collection of Victorian hatpins, some of which are family heirlooms that once belonged to my own grandmother. Others, she purchased in flea markets. I had not yet noticed that one was missing, and I appreciate you notifying me of its being in your possession. I would greatly appreciate if you would return it to us, so that Rachel’s collection can be preserved in its completeness.
I would like to meet with you in person; perhaps you could return the hatpin to us yourself, and we could talk about what you know. If you are not Rachel’s killer, you are the second-last person to see her alive, and you may have seen or heard something, unbeknownst to you, which is of value in the investigation.
As for Rachel’s father, he is currently in Kuwait overseeing the construction of a new pipeline. I have not yet informed him of Rachel’s death, as there is nothing he can do for her now. He will be returning next week, and I know that he will be heartbroken at the loss of his only child.
I look forward to meeting you in person.
Regards,

Dear Janie,
I know that this is off-topic and perhaps uncalled-for, seeing as we are total strangers. But I couldn’t help but notice your signature, and I wanted to say that it’s okay. I know that as a teenager it can be hard to be honest with people about the things that make you different. My Rachel was like that with her dyslexia. Please know that you have a friend in me, and I will not judge you for your orientation.
Best,

A note from Rache's mother (I think you knew her as Ebony)King Krimson Posted:
Dear Mr. Krimson,
I am uncertain how to respond to your message here. At first, I was certain that you were the cold-blooded killer who took my darling Rachel’s life, and that you were posting here to mock me.
A subsequent message in this discussion from a young lady named Janie, however, has made me think twice. She bumures me that you are a mild-mannered “nerd” who spends his time reviewing online fanfiction. Perhaps Rachel’s anger towards you was related to a negative review? I know that her stories were not well-received.
Mr. Krimson, I saw the killer’s face, and it looked just like yours. However, upon reflection, I realize that such an effect might be achieved by a skilled make-up artist or mask-maker. Is is possible that someone in this community had a reason to frame you? Do you have enemies?
Please be honest. It’s the best thing you can do now, not only for me and my beloved daughter, but for your own well-being. If you are, in fact, the monster who took her from me, I urge you to turn yourself in and seek the help you need. If you are not, I beg you to tell me everything you know about who it might be, since it seems that they are trying to make you bear the blame.
Please, Mr. Krimson, do the right thing.
Sincerely, Karla Robertson (view post) |

Dear Janie
Of course, dear, I would be happy to send you those things. It will be nice to know that Rachel’s friends are remembering her.
As for your bumurances that Mr. Krimson is not to blame, I must differ with you. I am certain that the face I saw matches precisely the one on his avatar! However, I guess it’s possible that someone might have had reason to frame him and painted his face accordingly.
I have pbumed your information on to the appropriate authorities, and I am sure they will find it helpful in their investigation.
Best,

A note from Rache's mother (I think you knew her as Ebony)Janie Posted:
Dear Janie,
Thank-you for your support in this difficult time. Rachel spoke fondly of you. You know, I think the “gothic” thing was really just her way of expressing her loneliness. She really didn’t adjust well since we moved here to Dubai. Her father and I took her to New York to see her friends sometimes, but she never seemed to want to spend time with them. All she did was shop at that ridiculous “Hot Topic” store all the time. Such a shame! We have such lovely shops here in Dubai, too.
Thank-you for the information about Biff, too. So it seems to me that King Krimson and Biff are, in fact, two different people. Can you explain to me how this “nanafabulous personjesus” (what a terribly offensive handle!) fits into this scenario? Is she actually King Krimson, or Biff? This community is so complicated, with everyone using alternate names and so on.
All the best,
Karla Robertson (view post) |

A note from Rache's mother (I think you knew her as Ebony)Nocturnal_Heartache Posted:
Dear Nocturnal_Heartache,
Please don’t say such terrible things! I understand if you and your parents have some communication difficulties. Rachel could sometimes be very sullen and distant, and I fear that I was sometimes too hard on her, pressuring her to make friends and spend less time on the internet. Nevertheless, I love her very much, and I am heartbroken over her death.
Please, hug your parents. Tell them you love them.
Sincerely, Karla Robertson. (view post) |

A note from Rache's mother (I think you knew her as Ebony)Dear Forumwars Community, ; Hello. My name is Karla Robertson. I’m Rachel’s mother. I believe you knew her as Ebony. I’ve logged into her account to let you know why you won’t hear from her any more and to ask for your help. She’s… well, she has pbumed away.
No, she didn’t “pbum away.” She was brutally murdered. It happened just this morning, and I’m still in shock. I’m sure that grief will take over, but I’m taking advantage of the clarity and numbness of this moment to ask for your help. I have reason to believe that her death was related to her involvement with this online community, and I suspect that the perpetrator was a young man known as “Biff.”
Rachel met this Biff through these forums, and they’d been on a couple of dates. On those occasions where he came to pick her up, I never got a good look at his face, but I understand he was a “goth” type, like Rachel. Today, he came to our house and introduced himself to me. He said he needed to see her. WHen he left, she was dead.
I managed to get a good look at him. Here is a picture I have drawn from memory: Log in to see images!. From perusing these forums, it seems to me that his online identity was “King Krimson”.
According to what I can reconstruct from Rachel’s recent diary entries, there had been a breakup, and Rachel was heartbroken. I don’t know what brought Biff/King Krimson back here, but it seems that his intent was violent all along. There are signs of a struggle; Rachel seems to have been strangled to death, but there is a lot of blood. She appears to have tried to defend herself with a hatpin. Perhaps I should have bought her the gun she was asking for.
If you see this Biff/King Krimson fellow, please contact the authorities immediately. Do not approach him, or you may be his next victim.
To Rachel’s friends: Thank-you for being there for her. She has been so lonely ever since we moved to Dubai. I hope you find comfort for your grief with one another.
Sincerely, Karla Robertson (view post) |
