I want to eventually win the e-peens for the Icons and style but I don’t know what a good program would be for simple gifs for the Icons in particular.
So basically my question is “How canz I makes the moving picatures PLZ?!?!”. Dunatis edited this message on 03/27/2009 1:59PM |

Adobe ImageReady is the best. I was thinking of writing a short simple how-to as well. |

I would love you forever! But I wouldn’t ask me about my opinions on whether or not time actually exists, because you may get your heart broken… |

GIMP is pretty good and free; it’s what I use (because I’m cheap and have a Mac, which = not a lot of options). There are a number of tutorials for making animations with it…

Basically, you put all the frames on separate layers, save as a .gif file, and choose to save it as an animation. |

Yay, free program! It’s going to take some work to learn how to use though since I’m an art nub… |

Luckily for you then I’m a lazy bastard and will probably end up going with a nice simple non animated design. So screw you everyone who thinks the opposite and down votes anything not animated! |

Actually that’s where I do most of anything I do drawing with, but I suck at that too… Plus it has no effects… In the end I may just go with making the little bumon styles since they are small enough to mask the fact that I have no artistic skill but am a peen whore…
BUT I APPRECIATE THE HELP!!! |

In Junior High I did a few gifs for a comp clbum and this looks more like how it was done in that program. Which I’ve been hoping to find again for years to just mess with. I’ve only seen the screenshots but it looks promising! |

I think it all depends on what you’re good at.
I used Photoshop CS3 and MS Paint for my logos. I never touched GIMP, Fireworks or the like (although I want to get some advanced knowledge on these), but if you’re good with these, you’re good to go.
I never explored icons, but I’d think Paint is the better program to do these since pixelart is kinda easy to do on such a small space. Then you can just use something to animate them, I use photoshop myself since you don’t need a lot of frames to animate stuff that small. |

I’m not good at anything BUT basic pixel art, and the program I used back when simply accepted pictures put in x order and ran through them. Nice and easy. All these newfangled Layers and filters and drop down menus scare me Log in to see images! |
